National Cherry Festival
July 5 - Jul 12, 2008
Traverse City, Michigan
Remember the sights, sounds, and smells of a summer celebration in your hometown when you were a kid? It probably had music concerts and fireworks, sporting events and marching bands, rides on a midway and pie-eating contests, clear blue skies and warm sunshine, and crowds of smiling faces. Festival visitors will find all this and more at the National Cherry Festival. Held each year in July, the eight-day festival celebrates the Grand Traverse Region's most prized fruit, the cherry. Hosted on the shores of Lake Michigan's Grand Traverse Bay, The Festival has been named in USA Today's Top Ten Festivals three years running, and is often referred to as Michigan's number-one event.
