One of my food discoveries this year was grilled butternut squash...cutting the peeled neck of the squash into thin (quarter-inch at most) "steaks," brushing them with herbed olive oil and grilling them over charcoal...on my double-rack grill I put them on the top rack while I'm grilling other items closer to the coals. Good stuff!

Mmmmm, that sounds really good! Picturing the little rounds makes me think of toppers...like roasted shallots!
For another take, using the oven and a "Tunisian-inspired spice mix," check out this recipe on The Splendid Table web site: Roasted Winter Squash Slices.
It's funny to think that pureed squash is one of the big baby food items...then it seems as kids we go through an "I hate squash" stage...and then we grow up and love them again!
