Sustainability Uncorked!

The Green Glass Company (Brookfield WI) turns empty wine bottles into beautiful tableware and artglass. As you may know, colored glass (like those pretty green and blue wine bottles) creates many recycling challenges due to the trace metals used for the color. These bottles become difficult, sometimes impossible, to recycle.

But now there is hope! Help me set up a network to collect the empty wine bottles from local restaurants, wine tasting spots, and any other place they congregate. The Green Glass Company will pay the freight to ship them to WI, we just need to collect and palletize. I am looking for the following:

  1. Volunteers to collect and deliver the bottles to central collection points
  2. Volunteers to provide warehouse/barn space to serve as central collection points
  3. Volunteers to palletize the bottles for shipping (could be a great community service project!)

Ideally, all of this transportation would take place on your regular travel route, as we don't want to use extra fuel (which would be sacrificing one resource to save another). So let's put our heads together and find a way to make this happen! We can save the bottles from the landfill, and turn them into beautiful, useful objects. After all, that's what sustainability is all about!
