Simply Cherries & Cherry Sauce to debut at National Cherry Festival

Cherries are always tucked into everything imaginable at the annual National Cherry Festival. This year however, that sweet taste of cherries can be found on specialty store shelves throughout the Midwest. With the help of Brownwood Farms President, Jeff Hughes, cherries wearing the festival label will be produced and distributed all year long.

Two official products of the National Cherry Festival will debut this season: Simply Cherries and Cherry Sauce. Simply Cherries combines the two most popular northern Michigan cherries, Montmorency Tart Cherries and Dark Sweet Cherries to create a wonderfully diverse topping. The topping is perfect for deserts, pancakes, homemade cherry pie, mixed with yogurt, in a smoothie, or right out of the jar. Ingredients include tart Michigan cherries, dark sweet Michigan cherries, sugar, cornstarch, and an array of spices.

Cherry Sauce combines the sweetness and texture of apples with the distinct tartness of Michigan cherries. The gourmet enthusiasts at Brownwood Farms found a way to add an iconic northern Michigan flavor to a traditional American favorite. Ingredients include tart Michigan cherries, apples, sugar, lemon juice, and complementing spices.

The products will be available in specialty stores, and will be featured each day at the National Cherry Festival, July 4 - 11 in the Cherry Farm Market Tent located at the Open Space Park in the heart of Traverse City, Michigan.
