Rapid City Community Garden Series
Join us at the new Rapid City Community Garden! This spring garden series is held at the Red School House, Clearwater Township Community Center, 5407 River Street Northwest, Rapid City, MI from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Free for Rapid City Community Garden members, students, teachers, staff and parents. $5-$10 suggested donation for others. Visit the ISLAND website for more details.

This workshop will be a good general introduction to gardening and small garden design. You will also learn about community gardening and the new Rapid City Community garden. Come get first dibs on renting a new plot!
Seed Selecting and Starting

This workshop will be an introduction to seed selecting and starting, taught by Phyllis Wells of Wells Family Farm. The Wells Family Farm is a family-owned CSA farm in Williamsburg that grows small fruits, vegetables, and cut flowers. Phyllis and her husband, Mike Wells, have been growing high-quality produce at their farm since 1983.
Organic Soil Development

The secret to great gardening is building great soil. This workshop will be an introduction to organic soil development, taught by Ryan Romeyn of Providence Farm and CSA in Central Lake. Ryan has been farming since 1998 and operating a CSA since 2002. Providence Farm grows certified organic vegetables and fruit, pasture raised pork, and is committed to sustainable farming practices.
Growing Organic Vegetables

This workshop will be an introduction to growing organic vegetables, taught by Alana Haley of Pine Hill Nursery. Alana is an avid gardener and is passionate about growing organic vegetables. She is an experienced gardening workshop instructor, and coordinates garden workshops for Pine Hill Nursery. Alana also grows and sells herbs and tea, and is owner of Roots & Wings Herbs.
