New restaurants, new locations in Traverse City
In a bit of musical chair flurry of activity, restaurants in Traverse City are on the move, with a couple newcomers grabbing seats too.
The Cooks' House is scheduled to open April 1 at 439 E. Front St., the former home of Patisserie Amie. Eric Patterson, a partner in the new venture along with Jennifer Blakeslee, states in the Traverse City Business News, "We are very excited about opening a restaurant in Traverse City because of all the agriculture and other artisan producers that surround the area. We are a restaurant that believes strongly in buying local and sustainable products, and will offer a menu comprised almost entirely of local foods."
Patisserie Amie has moved to its new location 237 Lake Ave. earlier this year, in the space vacated by the Light of Day Tea Room. The larger space gives them room to expand their baking, according to chef and owner Eric Fritch. Look for some new items on the menu, including new offerings for kids.
Meanwhile, the tea room, now called the Serenity Tea Bar and Cafe, snagged a spot on 232 E. Front Street, across from the State Theater. From the Light of Day website:
Serenity will sell locally grown and produced Light of Day Organics products from our farm, and from other surrounding certified organic C.S.A farms. They will also serve house-made paninis, soups, scones, chocolates, vegetarian and gluten-free cuisine, as well as children’s delights to compliment the Saturday morning kid’s matinee right across the street.
And lastly, TC Business News reports that Radish will open at 408 S. Union, selling mainly local, organic salads via a large salad bar with 50 to 60 items, as well as two soups a day, two to four desserts, fresh-brewed organic tea and other high-end bottled drinks.
Nice to see local restaurants offering local foods!
