Farmers Market Inspired Cooking

Pay a visit to the Epicurean Classic website, where they've been busy adding updates to the schedule. The most recent addition is "Farmers Market Inspired Cooking," with Jennifer Blakeslee and Eric Patterson, chefs/co-owners of the Cooks' House in Traverse City.

Here's the description of the class, scheduled for Friday, September 12 at 9 a.m.:

What's going through a chef's mind when they shop? How do they put things together especially at this time of year when the farmer's market is absolutely brimming with produce and fruit? To their immense credit, a skilled chef's brain is constantly in motion with countless menu ideas and you won't find two more creative artisans than Eric and Jennifer, owners of The Cook's House in Traverse City - certainly this fair city's hottest new restaurant. Until 2005, Eric was executive chef at Andre's in Las Vegas, long considered the top French restaurant in Nevada, and yes, Jennifer was his sous chef. Spend an hour watching them brainstorm with a bunch of local produce and a couple pieces of meat and fish and your menu planning will never be the same.

The Epicurean Classic is secheduled for Sept 11 -13, with most events at the Great Lakes Culinary Institute, Traverse City, Michigan.
