Epicurean Classic Schedule Posted

The folks at the Epicurean Classic have posted an updated schedule online, with details about cooking demonstrations, wine tastings, receptions and dinners taking place during the September 11-13 event. New this year is the day pass for $129 ($229 for both days), which gets you into all the cooking classes schedule for that day, as well as entrance to the Tasting Pavilion. Most programs for the Epicurean Classic will take place at the Great Lakes Culinary Institute in Traverse City.

The Great Lakes Mise en place Opening Reception kicks off the classic on Thursday evening, with a celebration of the fruit, produce, meat and fish in innovative dishes prepared by renowned chefs from around the Great Lakes region. Michigan's acclaimed wines, beers, and spirits will complement the food. This walk-around reception will feature original recipes from Chicago's John Manion, Carlyn Berghoff, and Chris Turano, along with Toronto's Ted Reader, and Michigan-based Rick Halberg, Jennifer Blakeslee, Eric Patterson, Ralph Humes, and Ted Cizma. Wine tables will offer medal-winning selections from L Mawby, Black Star Farms, Left Foot Charley, Shady Lanes, Longview, Bowers Harbor Vineyards, Chateau Fontaine, Good Harbor Vineyards, and Two Lads, among others, as weel as a variety of beer styles from Bell's, Short's, and New Holland breweries.

Friday will feature this year's literary Guest of Honor Kim Sunee, author of Trail of Crumbs: Hunger, Love, and the Search for Home, at an evening Champagne reception, and Great Chef dinners - which benefit the Great Lakes Culinary Institute - throughout Traverse City. Saturday ends with the signature Grand Reception, featuring a range of tastes from Classic guest artisans. Over a two-and-one-half day period, attendees will choose from more than 40 cooking demos, 24 wine/cheese/beer class-style tastings, eight Great Chef dinners and three receptions.
