Currey Farms named Michigan’s best Maple Syrup

Congratulations to Charlevoix's Art and Jan Currey, whose maple syrup was recently awarded top honors by the Michigan Maple Syrup Association.

Currey Farms won first place for maple syrup and Best of Show for all maple products entered in the competition. More than 30 other state maple syrup producers competed for best syrup, which was judged on color, flavor and density.

The Currey family has been making maple syrup for five generations, but has only produced it commercially for two years.

According to the Charlevoix Courier,

The Curreys said they knew their product would be a contender from the start.

"When Art made this syrup last spring, he said, 'We ought to bottle that and put a number on it and save it. I think that's the best maple syrup I've ever made,'" Jan said. "The rest of our maple syrup is still very good, but this was one of those days with perfect conditions to make maple syrup, so it's sort of a luck thing."

To order the maple syrup online, visit Currey Farms or call (866) 823-3267. The Currey's also welcome visitors to the farm to observe production in Spring.
