CRAFT at Blackbird Gardens

Join us for a CRAFT farm tour, workshop and potluck at Blackbird Gardens. Mike Everts runs a one acre micro farm in Petoskey, where he grows vegetables, herbs and flowers. He sells at the Boyne City, Petoskey and Traverse City markets, to two restaurants, the Grain Train, and serves 12 working share CSAs. Mike will provide a farm tour and workshop on wind row scale composting, using a small tractor with loader and pitchforks to layer up the pile. Ratios of component materials, inoculation, moisture, temperature curve, pile turning, and completeness of compost will be discussed. Biodynamic preps will be demonstrated. Blackbird Gardens is located at 916 Blackbird Road in Petoskey; it is the 2nd drive on the right (west) when heading up Blackbird Road from 31.

Free for CRAFT members. $10 suggested donation for non-CRAFT members.
